After All These Years, Aerosmith Still Rocks The Joint
The Day, CT
October 31, 2005
How much you want to bet that, for Halloween tonight, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry go as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards? The joke: they wouldn't have to dress up.
Yes, Aerosmith's frontmen blaze with their very own glimmer-twins vibe. Tyler's got the flexible-voiced, helium-lipped, preen-dancing performance style down pat, and Perry plays guitar like a man possessed. What Aerosmith's concert Sunday night at Mohegan Sun Arena showed was that this long-running band has something else in common with the Stones: a continuing, dynamic enthusiasm for performing and a supreme musicianship.
Aerosmith, led by 57-year-old Tyler and 55-year-old Perry, kicked off its new tour at the Sun, and the concert crackled and roared. When Tyler said, happy in the return-to-stage moment, “I think we've been off the road too long,” it seemed as though all the band members felt the same sweet emotion. The show, with opener Lenny Kravitz, was the first of a two-night stand at the casino. The second concert is at 7 Tuesday, and tickets, which are available from the Sun box office, range from $97.50 to $150.
Sure, you'd be paying dearly for those tickets, but you'd be likely to get more of a close view of the musicians than usual, based on Sunday's show. The guys weren't restricted to the stage. They had free rein, thanks to two ramps that ran down either side of the arena floor and then angled toward each other, with stairs leading down. The performers strutted those walkways, playing it up to the exuberant concert-goers along the way. Perry climbed down into the audience and then jumped up on someone's chair to churn out a solo on “Same Old Song and Dance.” During “Livin' on the Edge,” Tyler - dressed in a sleeveless black T and black-and-white striped pants - sidled up a side ramp and leaned precariously over a railing, almost into the crowd.
Although Aerosmith has a new CD out, “Rockin' the Joint,” the band stuck mostly to its gilded greatest hits package. (Perry's creaky vocal lead on the new “Shakin' My Cage” only reinforced his Keith-Richardsonian traits; he was meant to play blistering guitar, not to warble.) While it would be wonderful to hear more unexpected songs from the group, their tried-and-true line-up can still galvanize audiences. On Sunday, “Dream On” propelled itself with the same irresistible momentum as it did when it was released 20 years ago. Despite its novelty-song lyrics, “Dude Looks Like a Lady” swaggered musically with traffic-stopping blues-rock attitude.
Some other things never change, too. Tyler's voice still has that epic emotive power, not to mention range; he hit the primal scream at the end of “Dream On” with gusto. He's still got the scarves tied to the mike stand. And the band still has fans - the electrical kind, not the groupie kind - set up at various points on the stage, billowing their hair as if they were in a Stevie Nicks video.
What was unusual, not just for Aerosmith but for any group playing this venue, was that Tyler thanked Mohegan Sun and several tribal officials and casino execs by name.
Theatrically, Aerosmith is a two-man show. Musically, it's a full-band affair. Guitarist Brad Whitford, drummer Joey Kramer and bassist Tom Hamilton were, as always, deadpan physically but impassioned instrumentally.
A quick note about the staging: grates hung from the ceiling that lit up in abstract patterns. Sounds boring, but it was understated yet effective.
Lenny Kravitz opened the show with a surge of vitality. As Tyler said about Aerosmith, Kravitz seemed jazzed to be performing live again. He sounded fantastic, and he didn't look too bad either, the king of cool with close-cropped hair, faux snakeskin jacket and Bono wraparound sunglasses.
His performance was so potent that it was surprising to hear what Kravitz had to say near the end of his set. Introducing “Let Love Rule,” he said that his father had died the previous night, and he wanted to dedicate the song to him. (Kravitz must really take to heart the “show must go on” philosophy.) “He's in a beautiful place now with the Lord, so we are going to celebrate this evening,” Kravitz said. He then asked the audience to sing along on the chorus of “Let Love Rule.” “Let Love Rule” is too slow to be a sing-along number, but it was a lovely sentiment on Kravitz's part and clearly a heartfelt moment from him.

Fresh, Gary Dourdan ("CSI"), Fieldy (Korn), DJ Lethal, Ms. Jade, Sonny Black, Napoleon (Outlawz) and Romeo Antonio. Santana: New Album a Treat, Not a Trick
Fox News
October 31, 2005
....At an age when most popular music artists are relegated to hoping their albums will even be heard, Santana is more popular than ever. His new CD, "All That I Am," is so good, and so much better than even his last one, "Shaman," that he should be smiling from ear to ear.
I guess I'm just surprised that Clive Davis let "All That I Am" miss the Grammy deadline. I'm sure he knows what he's doing, so we'll have a good year and a half to settle in with this album.
Davis is the co-executive producer on "All That I Am," and like on "Supernatural" — the album that brought Santana back — there are lots of guest stars. Rob Thomas (who co-wrote and sang "Smooth") doesn't sing here, but he donated both the album title and a song, "My Man," performed by Mary J. Blige and Big Boi from Outkast.
But the real revelation on the new CD is Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, who sings his heart out on "Just Feel Better" and scores what I think could be a huge, huge hit.
Good for him: Tyler has one of those voices we take for granted. But his earthy vocal turns out to be the perfect complement to Santana's blistering guitar. That boy can sing....

...Album producers Davis and Santana drop in a surprise or two as they continue to treat the "Supernatural" formula as a musical bible. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler isn't the first person you'd think to pair with Santana, but as he opens up and screeches on the rock ballad "Just Feel Better," his voice becomes human counterpart to the sound of Santana's electric guitar....

Steven Tyler and Aerosmith kicked off a tour at Mohegan Sun.
(Staff photo by Tim Correira)
The house paid off for Aerosmith fans last night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
The veteran hard rockers kicked off their “Rockin’ the Joint” tour with a two-night stand at the Connecticut casino and did exactly what the title promised.
Early on in the proceedings, frontman Steven Tyler – decked out in an Aerosmith tour shirt and black-and-white-striped trousers – asked the crowd’s permission to “rock your ass into the middle of next week” and the assembled throng voiced its assent.
At first it seemed as if the quintet, who haven’t played in close to a year, might only be able to muster rocking us into Tuesday morning at best. The night began with a suitably funky “Walk This Way” but gave way to less-than-stellar runs through “Same Old Song and Dance,” “Cryin’ ” and “Living on the Edge” that found Tyler struggling vocally in places and the band missing a few transitions that one would imagine are second nature this far down the line.
The energy level began to rise with a surprisingly impassioned version of the power ballad “Angel” and the always jaunty “Dude Looks Like a Lady” – featuring ace in the hole keyboardist/vocalist Russ Irwin supplying the faux horns and high harmonies and Tyler locating his yeow!
The white-hot breakthrough came during Joe Perry’s turn at the microphone on the dirty guitar blooze of “Shakin’ My Cage” from his recent solo album. Perry, who seemed miffed early in the evening, channeled his attitude into a two-fisted guitar attack, switching axes mid-song and blazing on both. While his punk-edged vocals were hard to hear, his solos – one with a nicely sleazy bottleneck slide – came through loud, clear and surgically perfect as they did throughout the night.
Tyler returned for the rattlesnake sizzle and Tom Hamilton’s bass guitar boil on “Sweet Emotion” and the ferocious gallop of “The Other Side,” which officially brought us to Wednesday night with Joey Kramer’s sure-handed groove. Kramer also put the big beat down for “Janie’s Got a Gun” and underscored Tyler’s easy, breezy wordplay on “Rag Doll” with satisfying muscle.
Considering its elaborate stage set-up, it’s impressive there were no major opening-night technical glitches during the hour-and-45-minute show. Three large video screens ringed the top of the stage just above dozens of hanging LCD strips that twinkled, swirled and doubled the live images. Two ramps at either side of the stage brought the band right to the loge sections and two long gangways jutting out into the auditorium became runways for Tyler, Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton to skip, swagger and strut into reach-out-and-touch territory.
Several oldies help close out the night, including singalong “Dream On,” the raging “No More, No More” and the beloved, beguiling “Seasons of Wither.”
Lenny Kravitz warmed up the crowd slowly as small sections stood with each consecutive song by the retro rocker and his perfectly coiffed ruffians. Opener “Where Are We Runnin’ ” got the diehards, “Always on the Run” brought in the Zep fans, “Lady” captured the Gap demographic, “American Woman” the strippers – and all those who’ve fantasized doing a pole dance – and “Fly Away” snagged just about everybody else. Kravitz, in good voice and guitar form, also made use of the stage doing his trademark flower power walk-through during “Let Love Rule” and winding up with a spirited “Are You Gonna Go My Way?”

Santana's Latest: 'All That,' And More
New York Daily News, NY
October 31, 2005
Musical formulas aren't always a bad thing. Sometimes they contain recipes worth repeating. Ask Carlos Santana. For the third time in a row, the guitarist has released a CD - "All That I Am," in stores tomorrow — that recycles label chief Clive Davis' scheme to match the star's glistening playing to a lazy Susan of super-sized guest stars. The results, this time, are breezily pleasing...
Now, "All That I Am" enlivens the original mold by featuring compositions worthy of its contributors. For all the bold-face cameos — from OutKast's Big Boi to Aerosmith's Steven Tyler — it's often the songs themselves that star. "I'm Feeling You," fronted by Michelle Branch, leaves the material on her own albums in the dust. "My Man" has far more melodic heft than the bilge Mary J. Blige normally warbles. And "Just Feel Better" gives Tyler his most fluid pop song since "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing..." The best passages on "All That I Am" have the range and pleasure of a "Now That's What I Call Music" CD — that is, a new release that sounds like a collection of hits.
Jazz Trumpeter Scores Top Debut in US Charts
Undercover Music News, Australia
October 31 2005
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Jazz trumpeter take to the US charts, but Chris Botti has defied the odds to score the highest debut for a jazz trumpeter since 1991.
Botti’s new album “To Love Again” features vocalists Sting, Paula Cole, Michael Buble, Jill Scott , Paul Buchanan, Gladys Knight, Renee Olstead, Rosa Passos, and, as strange as it sounds, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.
The album’s success also serves as a personal record for Botti, who has never achieved this sort of chart recognition despite having released several albums in the past.
“To Love Again” sold 43,853 copies in its first week, bringing it to number 18 on the Billboard Charts in the US and straight to the top of the Jazz Albums chart....

On "All That I Am," guitar legend Carlos Santana jams again with an all-star cast, while sneaking in fiery instrumentals and Latin grooves. His trademark guitar wraps around vocal offerings by Michelle Branch, Mary J. Blige and Sean Paul, to name a few.
The familiar recipe works best on the lovelorn power ballad "Just Feel Better," where Santana's warm, bluesy cascades meet with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler's deliciously rugged voice. Other highlights...

Steven not first choice for Just Feel Better
From a Carlos Santana Interview....
There was also the delicate matter of finding the right singer for the right song. When promo samplers of the new album first appeared back in April, the AOR single "Just Feel Better" had Puddle of Mudd's Wes Scantlin on lead vocals. On the finished album, however, it's Steven Tyler in the driving seat. So what gives?
"Both singers were incredible, but Steven took it to a supernatural level," says Santana, overstating the matter somewhat. "A person of his age usually loses some of his top range, but Steven hasn't at all. I did send a letter of apology and some flowers to Wes Scantlin, and I told him I'd make myself available in whatever capacity he might need me. It's not a cold-hearted thing, I always make my appreciation known."
Thanks to aeromichigander for pointing this out.
New John B Road Report
28-Oct-05
News from the Road!
“Ain't got no rubbers, now it's raining all the time”. It's a wet rainy day here in Boston. The band has been rehearsing for 2 weeks now and everything seems to be in order for Sunday nights show at Mohegan Sun in CT. They have gone over 35 songs and will have to whittle it down to about 20 or so. It's not easy for them to pick the songs to play but I will tell you F.I.N.E, Crazy, Kings and Queens and Shakin' my Cage have all been rehearsed. Whether or not these songs “Make It” into the set remains to be seen. I have a feeling they will be mixing up the set a lot more and you will be hearing songs that are usually heard at the end of the set more towards the beginning and even one or two that have never been played live before. Why? You ask! Because they can. But remember things change so don't shoot the messenger if they don't play your favorite song.
The Krame-Dog seems to be in mid season form. I bet he's tired of fans coming up to him on the street saying “ Hey Joey! How's ya Ahhhmm? The clipped wing seems strong and no doubt he will be 100% by Sunday. The Krame-Pup will be in the building just in case.
Steven will be in Boston today filming a video for the Santana song he did. It's called “Just Feel Better”. He also is on Chris Botti's new album. He did the Charlie Chaplin song “Smile”. If you are not crying after that song you better get your motor checked.
Just a word of advice for anyone coming to the first 2 shows, as Jimmy Eyers tells me, Split them and then double down!
I will update this column next week if the creek don't rise and the good lord's willing!

...All That I Am, a new album that trades on a well-established formula. Like the two records before it, All That I Am sees Santana join forces with a cherry-picked cast of pop and rock singers, then spice the dish with a few Latin-flavoured instrumentals. Singers this time include Joss Stone, Los Lonely Boys, Mary J Blige and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. As ever, Santana is wise to crossover appeal...

Tyler, Santana rock Jillian's
Thanks to Carl
Rockers Steven Tyler and Carlos Santana took over Jillian's on Lansdowne Street on Tuesday to film a video for Santana's song, ''Just Feel Better." For the video, Tyler sang the power ballad while at a bar on the second floor of the mega-pool hall/nightclub. He also shot scenes with an actress (it's a music video after all) at a pool table. Santana's scenes mostly involved him playing guitar outside the building along Ipswich Street and in the garage across from Jillian's. . . . While at Jillian's the duo signed martini-shakers from Match, Jillian's new sister nightclub on Mass. Avenue, that are part of the hot spot's decor. . . .

The first concerts out of the box on the new Aerosmith / Lenny Kravitz tour will be right here, at Mohegan Sun Arena.
It all begins Sunday, followed by a second show on Tuesday (perhaps Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are taking Halloween night off to go trick-or-treating).
For all the fans who have ended up with almost-in-a-different-time-zone seats and have spent more time looking at the Jumbotron screen images of the musicians rather than of the real, barely-visible-in-the-distance figures themselves, Aerosmith has something for you. The band has ramps running from the stage into the center of the auditorium so that, no matter where you are, you can see — up close — Steven Tyler whipping around his scarf and Joe Perry cranking on his guitar.
The Boston band is touring in support of its live CD “Rockin' the Joint,” which was released this week. Kravitz makes for an amazing opening act, and the king of retro rock will be backed by a 10-piece band.
The Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz concerts start at 7 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets are $97.50, $127.50 and $150. Visit ticketmaster.com or mohegansun.com

Album Review: Aerosmith Lives On Live

Aerosmith
Rockin' the Joint
(Sony)
The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas provided a unique venue for Aerosmith to make a high-octane, turbo-charged live album, Rockin' The Joint. Although they were recorded during the band's 2002 tour, the 11 cuts selected for the album from a 24-song set sound just as fresh as the day they were played, showing why live records like this have made Aerosmith a true rock legend.
The album opens with "Beyond Beautiful" from the band's 2001 album Just Push Play, which sets the tone for this compilation by bringing together some of Aerosmith's newer material. Also evident on this track are the prevailing killer vocals of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry's signature electric guitar. At a respective 57 and 55 years old, these men prove that age is only a number by delivering the high energy sound heard throughout the band's career.
Tracks like "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," which was featured on the soundtrack of the blockbuster Armageddon, and "Walk This Way," which was most recently seen during the halftime show of Superbowl XXXV, provide a huge incentive for younger fans to buy this album. But in listening to this entire 58-minute-long disc, it is clear there are many gems.
"Rattlesnake Shake" is a Fleetwood Mac cover that has one of the sweetest guitar solos by Joe Perry, making it a treat for those who didn't get to take in the entire live experience of this show.
The overwhelming reality that Aerosmith maintains so much of it's "It"-factor after decades of performing is particularly noticeable here, yet it continues to resound and tremble throughout every other track as well.
For diehard fans, one of this collection's major selling points is the fact that it chronicles the first showing of live tracks for five songs including "Beyond Beautiful," "Light Inside, "Seasons of Wither," "No More No More," and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing." A new dynamic is prominent in these tracks, a dynamic that can only be understood by being at a live concert.
While the album itself is essential for fans, the DualDisc version, which contains both the entire CD in DVD-audio and four performance videos, is highly recommended. The live videos for "No More No More" and "Draw The Line" are impressive, but the exclusive performances of "Sweet Emotion" and "Dream On" are even more incredible, making this format truly special.
The reason that Aersomith's popularity has survived throughout the ages is evidenced awesomely by its live performances. The incredible sound of the crowd roaring throughout Rockin' The Joint allows listeners to feel the energy that live music brings to fans.
The rock genre, in particular, thrives on the credibility that artists gain through live performance, making CDs like this necessary for a band like Aerosmith. Even though the entire set for this concert was not released, this album still stands as a pillar of live recording at its best.
The songs are played with a verve and energy that rivals even studio cuts, and the crowd aspect does not overpower the band's performance but rather enhances it. This is no comeback record for Aerosmith; it is simply another jewel in the crown of an illustrious and timeless career.

With their dark days far behind them, and their shiny pop period seemingly over as well, Aerosmith have started releasing rock music again. This live set from a raucous 2002 night in Vegas shows that Joe Perry's still the king of guitar raunch, and Steven Tyler isn't always obnoxious -- in fact, he sounds great.

Aerosmith didn't expect to make a live album - the new "Rockin' the Joint" (Columbia) - for its next release. But with guitarist Joe Perry concentrating on a solo album, it proved to be the most expeditious way for the Boston rockers to have a new product for its upcoming North American tour.
Perry says a new Aerosmith studio album isn't that far in the future.
"We kind of plotted that out," he says, "and as with all things Aerosmith, I don't want to specify any particular time. But we've talked about doing something, going in [to the studio] sometime next year, during a break in the tour, and making some new music. We'll have to see if that holds up."

Members of Congress to be 'In The House' At MCI Center
The Washington Post
October 26, 2005
As pressure on members of the House and Senate to raise money has intensified, an industry has developed of companies competing to find new ways to attract donors. Sporting events have become prime draws...
Mike Gula, vice president of Keelen Communications... said the major attraction of a fundraiser at a game is the opportunity for lobbyists to spend three hours with a member of Congress, and to do that effectively requires holding the event in a suite or skybox...
There are some lobbyists who are not into sports. Rep. Vito Fossella (R-N.Y.) is offering dinner and a Broadway show, "Monty Python's Spamalot," for $1,500 a person or $2,500 a couple.
For the same price, a lobbyist can join Reps. John M. Shimkus (R-Ill.) and Dennis Rehberg (R-Mont.) on Nov. 3 for a concert featuring Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz at MCI Center....

Four of Five Stars
Recorded in early 2002 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Rockin' The Joint captures Aerosmith at their best, which is live, in front of a more intimate audience than the arena crowds they're used to. This disc features 11 songs (track 1 is just a 22 second-long intro) from the band's Just Push Play tour, and the chemistry between the members of Aerosmith is ever-present. Tyler's voice is still holding up, especially during the breakdown in "Same Old Song and Dance" and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" (yeah, I know it's the "Armageddon" theme, but it's still a good song).
Just when you think you're cant get anymore pissed at Aerosmith for playing the Superbowl with Britney Spears, and combining their legacy with flash-in-the-pan bubble-gum acts, they produce a collection like Rockin' The Joint, which proves they can still get back to basics and grind away at the blues-based roots that made them the legendary band they are.

October 25, 2005
The title of Aerosmith's latest — Rockin' the Joint - Live at the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas — pretty much says it all, except that the set list includes a few rarities ("Season of Wither," on a concert album for the first time, plus a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Rattlesnake Shake," etc.), and that the DualDisc's video side has four clips, backstage material and more.

200 More signatures needed
From Chiquitaaa:
If you remember this was posted a few months back. The woman who is running this "Conquer Cancer" campaign had a booth at the Marshfield Fair this summer. She told me Steven came to her booth and in his usual Steven fashion asked what he could do to help her out. He posed for a pic. This picture was in the local papers and he helped to make the application number jump pretty high. BUT, they are still short.
I just spoke to the woman who is in charge of this Conquer Cancer License Plate for Mass. It is a cause near and dear to her heart. She lost her husband to cancer at an age too young. The Massachusetts State Law states that she needs 1,500 people to pre-register in order for the registry to begin production. They currently have 1,300. ( so close !) So, they need only 200 more applicants. I told her that Aerosmith fans are usually VERY receptive to these causes. Anyone from Mass who wants to help can go to www.conquercancer.org or call 617-796-9191. Please consider helping!
Thanks

CD Review - "Rockin' The Joint"
San Francisco Chronicle, CA
October 23, 2005
Rating: 2 - Very Good
Rarely has a band been able to maintain the same level of prowess and swagger as has Aerosmith -- something it managed even during its abusive, hard-living years. This scarf-worthy collection (recorded live at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Cafe in 2002) bears that out, as the Boston group rips through 11 songs that stretch all the way back to its days as a Yardbirds clone. "Train Kept a Rollin' " still careers down the tracks with naughty abandon, while "Walk This Way" has never turned into a cliche, despite that mismatch-up with Run-DMC. To Aerosmith's credit, there are more than a few surprises here, including the rarely performed Fleetwood Mac cover "Rattlesnake Shake," the proto-Metallica "Season of Wither" and the shrill, but always thrilling "Draw the Line." Pouty, often precious, but always reliably irreverent and riff-happy, Aerosmith gives classic rock a good name.

Inside Track - Joey Kramer And Son To Perform
Boston Herald, MA
October 20, 2005
We hear on-the-mend Aerosmith sticksman Joey Kramer won't entirely sit out the Boston Bad Boys' new tour that kicks off at the end of the month.
Word is, the band's longtime drummer, who is recovering from rotator cuff surgery, will be "Rockin' the Joint" with Steven Tyler & Company when they hit the stage.
But when Joey's shoulder starts screamin' " 'Dream On' if you think you're going to play another song," his sticks-wielding son, Jesse, will pound the skins whilst Dad ices his shoulder backstage.
Word is, Jesse, 24, is rehearsing with the band after getting a quickie primer on the old and new Aero-tunes from the old man. Joey, we hear, went out to La-La to bring his Left Coast progeny up to speed.
"They really, really didn't want to go out of the family to get a drummer," said a backstage spy. "It was actually Brad (Whitford) who called Steven to put the bug in his ear about Jesse, who has been playing the L.A. club scene for quite a while. And it's not like they didn't know what he could do. He's been touring with them since he was a little kid!"
Check out both Kramers' moves Oct. 30 at the Mohegan Sun or at the TD Banknorth Garden on Nov. 12.

It comes in the form of a DVD called 'City of Champions: The Best of Boston Sports,' a 108-minute compilation of some of the region's most memorable, indelible moments - the kind that make you say 'I remember where I was when'...
Set to a soundtrack of mostly contemporary music - Creed, Five for Fighting, Pearl Jam, AC/DC and Aerosmith, to name a few - it might be on the loud side to Boston sports fans of a certain age. But in many instances the music and the images fit perfectly and lend a certain emotional element that music can bring to any production... It is available by calling 1-877-GO-BOSTON or online at www.cityofchampionsdvd.com."

John Mayer Plays Some Heavy Blues
The Boston Globe, MA
October 12, 2005
...Mayer held his blues coming-out party before a sold-out crowd at Avalon last night. He proved to be more competent than expected at his new role. And after covering songs by the likes of Hendrix, Charles, and B.B. King, he received a blessing from Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, who jumped up for an encore and said, "God bless you for loving [this music] the way you do!"
Tyler hung around to wail Sonny Boy Williamson's "Eyesight to the Blind," which was on Aerosmith's "Honkin' on Bobo" CD last year. He didn't duet with Mayer, but the crowd had already gotten a fill of Mayer doing such classics as King's "Everyday I Have the Blues" (which opened night), Hendrix's "Wait Until Tomorrow," and Charles's "I Got a Woman" and "I Don't Need No Doctor." These joined a number of new, blues-drenched Mayer originals such as "Vultures" (an apparent commentary on the music business) and the uptempo closer, "Try"....

Michael Striar, the political newcomer who is challenging two-term Mayor David Cohen for the city's top office this November, bills himself as the outsider who has the right combination of real-world experience and outside-the-box thinking to get Newton through its fiscal challenges...
Striar sat down with the TAB last week to discuss how his campaign is progressing to date, and talk about his past, from managing a country club to bringing Mohammed Ali out of retirement, and from reuniting the original members of Aerosmith to rejoining his family's real estate development company....

From the AeroFANatic Message Board
In Reference to the Attention-Grabbing Headline:
10-08-05 - Therockojpp: "Incredible Day in Boston. Just to let everyone know the obvious, Brad told me that Joey wanted to try and go and play with the shoulder, but the Doctor's told him he would seriously risk the rest of his career. As for waiting for Joey to heal, Brad said that with obligations to get RTJ out as well as another studio album, there really wasn't much choice to the matter..."
10-09-05 - Therockojpp: "When I spoke with Brad, he definately took his time to watch what he said, and how much information came out..."
10-10-05 - AeroFANatic: "And so now you all know how Blabbermouth gets their Aero news... They have a mole on this board and my mailing list. But thats cool....at least they gave credit this time :) I wish they gave me credit more often :) ..."
AEROSMITH Drummer Could Risk Career If He Tours - Oct. 10, 2005
Launch Radio Networks reports: If an online post is to be believed, AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer is in a lot worse shape than anyone knows. "Therockojpp" at the fan-run AeroFANatic web site wrote that he spoke to guitarist Brad Whitford at an autograph session at the First Act Guitar Studio in Boston on Saturday (October 8). Rumor has it that Kramer might miss some of the early shows on the AEROSMITH tour due to a shoulder injury, and Whitford supposedly said that Kramer was willing to try and play, but his doctors said he'd be risking the rest of his career if he went out on the road. There's been no official comment from AEROSMITH on Kramer or his health, but the Boston Globe reported that Kramer's son Jesse might sit in until his dad is ready to go.
AEROSMITH will release a DualDisc called "Rockin' the Joint" on October 25, with live audio on one side and concert video on the other. The band's fall/winter tour, with special guest LENNY KRAVITZ, kicks off October 30 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Minnesota Governor's Success at Twin Cities Marathon
Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune
October 8, 2005
...In the governor's mind, the marathon is about mental toughness, not physical prowess; his trick is his iPod, with an eclectic cache that includes Johnny Cash, AC/DC, Sonny and Cher and Pink. But he said he queued up his most energizing tunes for the final 5 miles of the marathon. Among them: Bruce Springsteen's "The Rising," Aerosmith's "Walk This Way," John Mellencamp's "When the Walls Came Tumbling Down" and Grand Funk Railroad's "Some Kind of Wonderful."....
