Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has lent his vocals to the track "I Want to Take You Higher" on the upcoming Sly And The Family Stone tribute album, "Different Strokes By Different Folks", due on September 27 via Epic/Legacy. According to an official press release, the album includes "one-of-a-kind collaborations from John Legend & Joss Stone w/ Van Hunt; Buddy Guy & John Mayer; Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) w/ Robert Randolph; Chuck D (Public Enemy), D'Angelo & Isaac Hayes; and Big Boi (Outkast) feat. Sleepy Brown & Killer Mike alongside songs by chart-toppers Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, will.i.am (The Black Eyed Peas), The Roots, Moby, Devin Lima (LFO) and more." Producers include Randy Jackson, Nile Rogers and Steve Jordan.

The original Sly And The Family Stone master tapes were utilized and were given to the producers and artists who then recorded and sampled other music onto the original masters. This new mix has personalized and updated these timeless classics. Created under aegis of the reclusive Sly Stone, his approval of every aspect of the recordings has resulted in a marriage of old school traditions and new school attitude, creating brand new music.

Sly And The Family Stone are credited as one of the first racially integrated bands in music history, belting their message of peace, love and social consciousness through a string of hit anthems that fused R&B, soul, funk and rock n roll. On "Different Strokes by Different Folks", a stylistically, culturally and racially disparate group of chart-toppers mirrors that idealistic diversity.

Rock stars, super models and Harley-Davidson ® motorcycles are all part of the mix for Celebration of the Sea - an all day music fundraiser supporting Celebration of the Sea Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of ocean habitats. The star-studded extravaganza will take place on Saturday, July 30, from noon to 11:00 p.m. at Rowell's Marina, mile marker 104.5 on Key Largo. In this spectacular, laid back, ocean side setting, revelers will rock to headline performances including a special appearance by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler , rock n' roll legend Chuck Berry , and the talented DMC, formerly of Run DMC . In what is sure to be a show stopping entrance, Tyler will arrive via Harley with supermodel/singer/songwriter, Sabrina Barnett , and perform the pivotal hit " Walk this Way ", with DMC and Barnett, while surprise supermodel guests cavort on the fashion catwalk by the sea, modeling Harley-Davidson fashion apparel. Miami native Barnett will also perform material from her newly released debut album, " Come As You Are ."

Ray Evernham, President and CEO of Evernham Motorsports, is more familiar with checkered flags than platinum records, but this week he will send music fans racing to bid on a new Bay auction to benefit the Charity Chopper Fundraiser, helping to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

This week's item, the fourth in a series of six special Bay auctions, is a framed poster of an Aerosmith-themed custom chopper built by Dave Perewitz of Perewitz Cycle Fab. The poster is autographed by all five Aerosmith band members, including Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford, Joe Perry, Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton.

They were still counting the money on Tuesday afternoon.

Approximately 550 guests attended Mt. Blue's annual garden party and auction Monday night, and although the total figure had yet to be tallied by the following afternoon, Jayne Bowe from Mt. Blue said she's confident event organizers reached their fundraising goal of $30,000.

The money brought in on Monday - through ticket sales, as well as through the sale of items in both silent and live auctions - will be donated to the Duxbury Bay Maritime School (DBMS).

The non-profit school, which is located in Snug Harbor, Duxbury, will use the funds to support two of its summer outreach programs; Maritime Adventures and ACCESSAIL.

In Maritime Adventures, which is held in conjunction with the Crossroads for Kids program at Duxbury's Camp Wing, underprivileged children from Boston learn - tuition-free - how to sail, row, fish and kayak for six weeks in the summer.

The ACCESSAIL program provides people of all age groups who have disabilities to have the experience of summertime sailing in Duxbury Bay.

Bowe said the live auction brought in more than $7,000 on Monday, including a whopping $2,600 which was paid for a guitar that was autographed by members of the rock band Aerosmith, including Steven Tyler who attended Monday night's festivities. Another $2,400 was raised through the sale of four tickets to see the Rolling Stones perform at Fenway Park in Boston later this summer.

At the evening's end, 12 attendees also volunteered to cover the tuition costs for 12 more students - one child each - to attend the Maritime Adventure program this summer, at a tuition cost of $300 each.

"It really was smooth," said Bowe.

Just another suburban dad moonlighting to make ends meet - that's what it might look like. But if the rock music thing doesn't work out, Joey Kramer can always support his family selling Corvettes.

The 56-year-old drummer for Aerosmith has a new gig. He is now a partner in Corvette Mike's of New England, a dealership on Route 44 in Plymouth.

If you don't believe it, check out the drum set sitting in the showroom, or the new guy advising customers on the latest gearhead restoration trends.

And that green '69 Camaro in the showroom window? Kramer's.

It's not just an investment or an indulgence. Kramer is into Corvettes, and the owner of the business, Mike Milian, is a friend.

"I've known Mike for years and we had always talked of one day doing something together," Kramer said.

"This is a great way to mix my expertise about cars, together with his expertise, and come up with something worthwhile."

He said the arrangement seems to be working. This is the best month the dealership has had since it opened in 1997.

"The response has been great to me being here," Kramer said. "People get a real kick out of seeing some of my Aerosmith paraphernalia that we have on display here."

Whenever the band's touring schedule allows, the Marshfield resident can be found helping out around the shop. He doesn't go on the road until November.

"I'm really enjoying taking part and working with people," Kramer said. "On a bright, sunny day, talking with people about cars is a lot of fun.

"There is a lot of my Aerosmith stuff here, so people kind of know I'm involved here now. Some are kind of surprised, to be sure, but in a nice way. I've been well received. Of course, all my band partners do their business here, as well, so you never know who you might see."

A lot of guys his age use sports cars to treat a mid-life crisis, but Kramer had a passion for Corvettes long before he could afford one. He has bought two dozen Corvettes through the years and still owns nine Corvettes and other sports cars.

"The Corvette is the first American sports car, and when you consider the bang for your buck, there is no equivalent," he said.

Corvette Mike's sells cars ranging from the classic Corvettes of 1965 to the redesigned 2005 models. They also carry Camaros, Chevelles and other muscle cars.

Another member of Aerosmith introduced Milian to Kramer in 1992 when he was the sales manager of a Chevrolet dealership on the South Shore.

"From there it became a friendship," Milian said. "I've been traveling with the band, doing security for them. I've been on their jet, been to their homes. They're great guys."

Milian has sold several cars to Kramer since he opened the business.

"Joey has always had a passion for cars," Milian said. "He's always said that one day he wanted to be a part of something like this."

For now, the name of the business will remain Corvette Mike's, but Milian said that could change.

"We're deciding on a new logo, putting my logo inside a set of drums," Milian said.

Why?

"Everybody knows Joey Kramer," he said.

About AML

# AML, or acute myeloid leukemia, also is known as acute myelogenous leukemia, acute myeloblastic leukemia or acute nonlymphocytic leukemia.

# AML occurs in people of all ages, but is most common in older adults. More than 10,000 new cases are diagnosed in the United States each year.

# The disease is not inherited or contagious. Some cases my be linked to environmental factors, such as exposure to benzene in the workplace.

# Patients with AML have a defect in the immature cells of the bone marrow that affects the body's production of healthy red blood cells, platelets and white blood cells.

# Patients with too few healthy red blood cells (anemia) may look pale and feel tired and short of breath. A shortage of blood-clotting platelets may lead to bleeding or bruising easily; injuries may heal slowly or not at all. A low white-cell count may lead to frequent infections (ie., sore throats), fever or pain in the bones and joints.

# Some people with AML do not notice any symptoms; their illness may be found during a blood test.

Sherry Kozlowski has decorated her son Michael's room with his favorite things, including a T-shirt that says "I have CHEMO BRAIN, what's your excuse?" and a pillowcase from home that covers his hospital pillow.

Michael's dad, Kevin Kozlowski, often sits by his hospital bed and plays the guitar, and Michael's 6-year-old brother, Steven, watches videos and plays games at a corner table.

The whole family from the Haler Heights section of McKeesport is there to support 12-year-old Michael Kozlowski, a patient at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He's being treated for acute myeloid leukemia, or AML, a type of leukemia that typically occurs in adults.

Leukemias are cancers of the white blood cells or their precursor cells, which develop from stem cells in bone marrow. Multiplying rapidly, leukemia cells accumulate in the marrow, hindering the production of normal blood cells. They also may travel through the bloodstream and accumulate in other parts of the body, where they continue to multiply.


"There are only about 500 cases (of childhood AML) each year," Sherry Kozlowski wrote in her online journal dedicated to her son. "It is very curable."

The National Institutes of Health reports that "complete remission occurs in 70 percent to 80 percent of patients."

Dr. Jean Tersak, a specialist who is treating Michael, said AML accounts for only 20 percent of childhood leukemias. The majority of children with leukemia, 70 percent, are diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, or ALL, which has similar symptoms.

"All childhood cancers are rare relative to adult cancers," Tersak said, explaining that the incidence of AML rises significantly among people older than 55. It is the most common form of leukemia in adults.

Symptoms of AML include shortness of breath; fever, bone and joint pain; paleness; abdominal pain; and bruising. But when Michael's illness began, even his doctors weren't sure what was wrong.

Sherry Kozlowski took her son to the doctor's office in late January because he had a high temperature and nausea. He was diagnosed with the flu. The rest of the family also got sick, but they recovered.

Michael continued to run a fever, his mother said.

She called the doctor when his temperature reached 103 degrees, but was told that a fever alone wasn't dangerous. Michael tried to return to school, but by the following Monday he was back at the doctor's office, complaining of severe back pain.

Again a physician dismissed the symptoms, suggesting the boy had strained a muscle carrying his backpack.

Michael's mother was not convinced.

"The fever was the big clue to me, since he was never a child to have a high temperature," Sherry Kozlowski said.

Later that week she called the doctor's office again and insisted on seeing Dr. Annette Ndagano, the family's pediatrician. When a strep test came back negative, Ndagano told the family to take Michael to the emergency room.

"She knew something was wrong," his mother said.

On Feb. 3 Michael went to the emergency room at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for a physical, chest X-ray and blood tests. Because the blood work appeared to have some discrepancies, he was admitted for further testing.

"For some odd reason that I cannot explain, I asked, 'You're not talking about something like leukemia, are you?'" Sherry Kozlowski recalled. "They said that would be the worst end of the spectrum."

A bone marrow aspiration and biopsy helped doctors identify Michael's illness. The next day, they told the Kozlowskis that their son had AML, "a very aggressive leukemia."

"I had to have my sister leave the room with me at one point. ... I just lost it," Sherry Kozlowski said.

Michael was transferred to the oncology unit at Children's on Feb. 7 and immediately started his first round of chemotherapy.

Bone marrow transplantation in conjunction with chemotherapy was a treatment option for Michael, but it requires finding a donor with a similar cellular makeup.

A brother or sister is a prime candidate to donate bone marrow, Tersak said, because siblings share a genetic background. But Steven was not a match -- and neither were Michael's parents.

So Michael was enrolled in a trial chemotherapy regimen involving a new drug, Mylotarg. Dr. Steven Ambrusko, another of Michael's physicians, said he receives the same chemotherapy as every other child with AML, except that Mylotarg is added to the treatment.

Michael is one of three Children's Hospital patients being given the drug.

So far, he's been through four grueling rounds of chemotherapy.

During the third round Michael contracted alpha hemolytic strep, meningitis and septic shock, all bacterial infections.

"Shock is simply an inability of your body to maintain body mechanisms with adequate blood flow," Ambrusko explained. Septic shock may cause low blood pressure, leading to the malfunction or failure of vital organs, such as the brain, heart, kidneys or liver.

Michael was placed in the intensive care unit and his family was told to call a priest. But he pulled through and left the ICU almost two weeks later. He expects to complete his last round of chemo this summer.

"He is an inspiration," Tersak said.

Michael admits he doesn't like taking medicine and "not being able to go outside," but he has enjoyed getting to know other children who share his diagnosis.

"The one I am best friends with is Matt," he said. "When we do get together, we usually play cards or walk the halls" of the hospital.

Michael also is painting a ceiling tile in Austin's Playroom, a room at Children's funded through the efforts of hockey great by Mario Lemieux and his wife, Nathalie, and named for their son. Michael's tile depicts a saxophone -- the instrument he plays in his school band -- along with musical notes and paw prints representing the Wildcats, his school's team.

Michael's doctors have helped to make the situation "more comfortable," Sherry Kozlowski said, by answering questions and guiding her family through some difficult times.

"We love our doctors," she said. "They are each special in their own way."

Also caring for Michael are "child life specialists" at Children's who encourage him to participate in activities.

"We call them our cruise directors," Sherry Kozlowski said. Not only do they keep Michael busy while he's hospitalized, but they also entertain him during painful procedures such as a bone marrow aspiration, where marrow from the pelvic, breast or hip bone is withdrawn through a hollow needle for testing.

The support of friends and family members has helped Michael the most, his mother said.

"People have just been wonderful," said Sherry Kozlowski, who wears a pin that says "My son is my hero."

Her friend Cindy Van, of San Diego, started a campaign to have Michael receive postcards from from fans of the rock band Aerosmith in all 50 states.

Van and her two daughters also asked Hard Rock Cafe restaurants around the world to send T-shirts to Michael. He has received more than 30 so far, including shirts from Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach, Italy and Kuwait.

"Mike wants to someday visit all of the Hard Rocks," Sherry Kozlowski said.

A jersey autographed by Lemieux and a harmonica signed by Aerosmith's lead vocalist, Steven Tyler, also have lifted the boy's spirits.

"He wanted to play (the harmonica), but I said, 'You'll wear all the marker off,'" Kevin Kozlowski said, laughing.

Students at Michael's school, St. Joseph Regional Catholic School in Port Vue, have made him cards for every holiday, he added. "Every day I dropped Steven off, it took me 20 minutes to get out of school."

The family's gifts have been more personal. Before Michael lost all his hair, for example, his grandfather helped him shave it into a mohawk.

"That was a real service by Grandpa," Kevin Kozlowski said.

And when it was time for it all to come off, little brother Steven stepped up. "He got his hair buzzed, because he wanted to be like his brother."

Sherry Kozlowski said she'd advise families in a similar situation to pray -- and then learn to accept help.

"This was very difficult for me. I have never been one to ask for help," she said. "In a situation such as this, you can't do it alone. ... It not only helps my husband and me out, but it helps our loved ones to cope.

"Most of all, you have to trust your doctors," she added. "We got very lucky in that area."

Ambrusko said he hopes that research can generate a "more directed or focused therapy on myeloid leukemia cells," explaining that treatments now are directed primarily toward leukemia in general.

Michael's looking ahead, too. He anticipates leaving the hospital and playing basketball, going to a Pirates game, "playing with my dog Scoochie and sleeping in my own bed!"

He's also excited about a mid-October trip to Walt Disney World in Florida that's been arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"When he found out that he got to skip to the front of the lines in Disney, he said 'I'm there!'" his mother said.

Michael, an aspiring scientist and NASA enthusiast, also asked to visit Cape Canaveral while the family is in Florida.

"He wants to be 'Houston'," Sherry Kozlowski said. "He likes to see how things work."

Joe Perry's Rock Your World: Image submission

Hey everyone, thanks once again for all the info you have provided its been a major help. I wanted to throw this out to the fans first before I announce it on the site to give everyone first crack at it.

As mentioned in one of my posts I was thinking about doing a "Show us you Rockin' Your World" (name still needs some tweaking any suggestions much appreciated Very Happy )Basically I want to have people submit pictures of them using the sauce and showing them holding it in various locations around the US and world. (famous landmarks would be great, i.e. St. Louis Arch, Times Sq., Eiffel Tower etc.)

Basic rules are:
1. No Photoshop images
2. Nothing inappropriate (i.e. keep it clean)
3. No blatant advertisements (but if your in a local band or run a local shop or something I cant stop you from wearing the t-shirt) Very Happy
just don’t make it too obvious.
4. Make sure that you have permission from other people pictured in the photo (I wuld like conformation if possible, definitely need conformation
if the person happens to be famous) So no asking someone you bump into at an airport to hold it than take a snap when they are not looking.
5. Use your best judgment
6. If the you submit more than one photo and they are over 3MB please send one photo per email. Just try to keep the overall size of the email under 3MB. If photos are smaller you may submit as many photos in one email as you like. (keeping in mind a 3mb-ish limit)*

Other than that have some fun and get some good pictures!!

Rock-It Launch

Didn't make it to Live 8? No worries. Rock stars, models and motorcycle types are on deck for the Celebration of the Sea, an all-day fundraiser and fashion show Saturday at Rowell Marina. Expect appearances by Chuck Berry, the original members of Boston, DMC (one half of Run DMC), Gary Cherone (former Van Halen frontman), and the headliner -- Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, set to arrive in true rocker fashion via Harley. Also, for the kids: a tent with marine touch tanks and a traveling 25,000 gallon pool that, if you still have the energy to keep the party going, will stick around on Sunday, too.

....Aerosmith's Tyler dines at Cody cafe. When you see celebrities flocking to our beautiful state this summer, remember to get a grip and try not to stare. This was a bit difficult for Cody residents when Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, 57, and friend Paul Teutul Sr. of the TV show "American Chopper" visited Cassie's cafe in Cody July 7. The pair was showered with attention and affection, according to the Cody Enterprise." I walked up to take their order and I was like, 'Oh, my God,' " said waitress Autumn Carden. Cassie's cook Jacob Singer said he was "not worthy" to bring buffalo wings and shrimp cocktails to such icons. Customers applauded as the two left. After signing the wall of celebrities and giving out a few autographs, Tyler and Teutul continued on their motorcycles to Cooke City, Mont., and Yellowstone National Park....

....Aerosmith fanatic (Drew) Donnelly decided that he needed to have a custom bike to traverse the Minnesota timbers during the short riding season they have up north. After all, if you only have a couple of months to enjoy the ride, it might as well be on something you enjoy riding. After looking through the various magazines, Drew decided that Dave Perewitz would be his builder of choice. Little did Donnelly know at the time that Perewitz had some history with Aerosmith himself. In fact Perewitz and guitarist Brad Whitford had appeared on a TV show and became fast friends. Their love for motorcycles and close proximity as neighbors led to Perewitz building a bike for Whitford. When Donnelly decided to mate his two great loves motorcycles and Aerosmith, Perewitz was able to use his contacts to get permission from the band and the build was on.

Once the bike was painted, Keith Hanson added the fantastic portraits which were signed by all five band members. Since the bike has been finished, both Steven Tyler and Brad Whitford have ridden the bike at various times and the bike has made a number of appearances at Aerosmith concerts. In fact, Steven Tyler has offered Donnelly a princely sum for the machine but Drew so far, has declined....

*NASHVILLE, Tenn. - *Everybody knows Joe Perry rocks as lead guitarist of
Aerosmith, and even the casual listener can hear the blues influence in his
playing. But it turns out Perry is also a closet country fan who credits
Nashville pickers with getting him to turn down the distortion on his
guitar.

With Aerosmith taking a break this summer, Perry is promoting a new solo
album, his fourth, called simply "Joe Perry." He spoke with the AP recently
from his home near Boston.

AP: I hear you listen to quite a bit of country music.

Perry: There are guys in country music who are wizards on the guitar. If
you're a country fan, you're used to it. But as a rock guitar player, you
listen.

AP: Anything else about country songs that appeal to you?

Perry: Loud snare drum, simple melodies and great lyrics. The really pop
country stuff can sound a little bland because they put in strings and horns
and all of that. Some of the older, esoteric country I listen to a lot. With
satellite radio you can hear it. I think the "Oh Brother, (Where Art Thou?)"
stuff is kind of the best of that genre.

AP: Any favorite performers?

Perry: I've gone to see Toby Keith play a couple of times and really liked
it. The last one I heard that blew me away was the Biscuit Burners (a
bluegrass group from Asheville, N.C.). I've always liked that guy who plays
the double guitar (Junior Brown).

AP: You recorded a song with Willie Nelson several years ago.

Perry: Yeah, we had decided we were going to do a rock version of the song
and a slow country thing. I was anxious to do the country thing and he was
anxious to hear the rock stuff.

AP: Do you think your appreciation for country music shows in your records?

Perry: It's probably listening to country music that got me to start playing
a lot cleaner, not as distorted. I've been getting down with a Telecaster
and turning the amp up just enough to get that little crunch. I think some
of the lyrics on my solo album are influenced by the way country singers use
words, more matter-of-fact than metaphors. It's a more simplistic approach.
I don't say that in a demeaning way; it's just a different way to express
yourself.

AP: I know you're a big fan of blues music. Do you get to Memphis often?

Perry: I spend as much time in Memphis as I can. I travel by bus most of the
time now, and whenever Memphis is within 500 miles I go even if we're not
doing a gig there. I've got friends there, and I go to Graceland and to Sun
Studio. My dream is to record at Sun.

AP: Aerosmith has blended different styles of music into its songs better
than most rock bands - "Ragdoll" has jazz elements, "Crazy" a country feel,
"Big Ten Inch Record" swing. Do you think that gets overlooked?

Perry: A lot of people don't listen to the albums. They just listen to the
singles. So it's easy sometimes to dismiss us as a power ballad band. But
that's kind of like calling Led Zeppelin a heavy metal band.

AP: You wrote all the tracks on your new solo album except a cover of The
Doors' "Crystal Ship" and Woody Guthrie's "Vigilante Man," plus you sang and
played most of the instruments. Was it hard not having a co-writer this
time?

Perry: I had to step up to the plate on the lyric end of things a lot more
than usual. Usually I leave that up to Steven (Tyler) and toss him a line
every now and then.

AP: Your three previous solo albums were released after you had left
Aerosmith in 1979. Why put out a solo record now?

Perry: This one was done for totally different reasons. I have no intention
of leaving Aerosmith or anything like that. There was such a surplus of
tunes lying around. I was getting tired of hearing them. It got to the point
that I thought "When is this stuff ever going to come out? Will it become a
box set for my kids to put out?" I had a year off, and I just decided to do
it.

AP: Do you think it's harder today for a young rock band than it was in the
early 1970s?

Perry: I would have to say it was easier then because that kind of music was
more in vogue. If you were in a rock band there were clubs everywhere where
you could play rock music. Now the big money is in hip-hop, and there's that
kind of really polished, homogenized music. Even the so called "rock bands"
have a very homogenized kind of sound to them.

AP: Any advice for new bands?

Perry: Get good live and get a following because that's what people notice.
You can always pound out demos and send them to record companies, but most
of the successful bands I've seen are the ones that can sustain themselves.

According to my sources, Aerosmith's Rockin' The Joint has an initial release date of OCTOBER 4th. This is in line with a November 1st start date for the tour.

Launch Radio Networks reports: Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford will be a special guest at the Carlisle Summer Bike Fest in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, this weekend. Whitford, who's a big-time car and bike guy, will appear with a custom-made motorcycle that features portraits of the Aerosmith members and band logos, as well as two of frontman Steven Tyler's microphones on the ends of the handlebars. Whitford will be signing autographs at the show, which takes place Friday through Sunday (July 22 through the 24). For more information, check out Carsatcarlisle.com.

Starting this week, visitors to the Franklin Park and Stone Zoos who want to hear the call of the wild can make a call on their cellphone. The Dorchester and Stoneham Zoos are joining a growing national movement of public attractions offering audio tours by wireless phone. After dialing a phone number, cellphone users enter digits corresponding to the attraction they want to learn more about, with a premium fee added to their monthly bill.

Locally, cellphone owners can already take a 17-stop tour of downtown Boston narrated by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler for $6, or a tour of the Minute Man National Historical Park in Lexington and Concord that works the same way for the same price....

Dear Ticket Purchaser:

I am the trustee appointed by the United States Bankruptcy Court to administer the bankruptcy estate of Fansrule, Inc. (“Fansrule”). As you may be aware, prior to its bankruptcy, Fansrule operated the Aeroforce One Fan Club. The records of Fansrule indicate that you purchased one or more tickets to Aerosmith concerts which were originally scheduled for the dates and venues listed below, but which were ultimately cancelled.

Thanks in large part to the efforts of Aerosmith and the band’s willingness to forego collection of a very significant amount of money due to them by Fansrule, as well as to the cooperation of Clear Channel, the concerts’ promoter, we have been able to obtain Bankruptcy Court approval to make refunds available to ticket purchasers which otherwise would not likely be available through the bankruptcy process. As such, we are able to refund the face value of the tickets to those who purchased tickets for cancelled shows and who have not received refunds or credits to their credit card accounts to date.

Enclosed with this letter are two documents – one entitled “Proof of Claim”, and a second entitled “Affidavit”. Those who are eligible for ticket refunds should complete the information requested on both forms, and return the completed forms to the address below as soon as possible, but in no event later than August 15, 2005.

Please note that the refunds presently available are for the face value of the tickets purchased only. Those individuals who purchased Velvet Rope packages or other promotional packages, or who otherwise incurred charges above and beyond the face value of the tickets may also submit a proof of claim form for the entirety of their claims, however, only the face value of the tickets, as reflected on the tickets themselves, will be refunded at the present time. In completing the enclosed forms, please provide as much specific information as may be available so that we may process your claim as quickly as possible. At a minimum, please identify which of the cancelled concert(s) you purchased tickets, the number of tickets purchased, and the amount paid. ...I've talked to some of the most interesting people on the planet, had their attention for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. It's an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. And although I'm loathe to generalize, there are certain things I've come to expect:

Metal musicians are the best interviews. Maybe it's the uninhibited nature of the music, but, generally they aren't afraid to say anything. Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Joe Elliott and Viv Campbell of Def Leppard, and especially Alice Cooper were well-spoken and honest. And while Aerosmith isn't exactly metal anymore, both Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford from that band have been generous with their time during interviews....

Great Rock'n'Roll Photography - like great rock'n'roll - is largely a matter of timing.... A new exhibition, Made of Metal, at Proud Galleries in London, displays more than 50 of (Ross) Halfin's images taken over the last 30 years.... Inevitably, in that time, Halfin has sampled more than his fair share of rock'n'roll misbehaviour.... Does he reckon that good bands always take good pictures? "Yeah, they do - bands with some edge who look dangerous. Guns'n'Roses looked good in the day. Now Axl looks like a silly old man." Warming to his subject (rock stars: discuss - preferably disparagingly), Halfin confirms the general conception that Guns'n'Roses/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash is one of the good guys. Halfin also still rates Ozzy Osbourne and Mötley Crüe for their adherence to the old school rock show and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Audioslave's Chris Cornell and Velvet Revolver's Scott Weiland as great rock frontmen....

Since Joe Perry publically has spilled the beans today on the radio, now AeroFANatic can announce:

The official start to the Aerosmith fall tour has been pushed back till AT LEAST NOVEMBER 1st. This date is not definite, but a ballpark figure. How this affects the release of "Rockin The Joint" I do not yet know. But knowing Sony like I do, they may try to time the CD and the tour for the Holidays. A November release of the DVD / CD makes alot of marketing sense because it would be a great holiday seller. We'll see how this goes.

As for the tour, NO OPENING ACT has been decided on yet. There have been some solid discussions about numerous acts, but nothing yet set in stone. Also with a later starting date, this could actually HELP the band as The Stones and U2's tours end in December so the market wont be as "saturated" for the early '06 part of the Rockin The Joint tour. We'll see how this all gels.

Aerosmith's Joe Perry Goes It Alone

With Aerosmith on some sort of one-year break, guitarist Joe Perry made a homespun self-titled solo record in the spirit of Aerosmith’s Honkin’ On Bobo, but with mostly original songs rather than old blues covers.

"I'm pretty sure I've played everything in one form or another for the guys in the band," Perry says on whether any of the garage-y traditional rockers on his solo album had ever been proposed as Aerosmith songs. "A song like 'Hold On Me,' I think I've had that, with lyrics as well, and it sounded like it sounds now, when I played it for them. And then there are other things, like 'Shakin' My Cage,' where actually, just that first initial guitar riff, I had a different arrangement and a different song and with no lyrics or anything, that we actually worked on for Honkin' On Bobo, and it just never gelled."

Perry figures some of the songs simply weren't right for the 'Smith.

"Sometimes you just throw it against the wall and if it's right, it sticks. If it doesn't, it doesn't, and that's just the process you go through to write songs," he says. "You try stuff out and sometimes you end up with something that is worthy of a second listen and sometimes you don't. In the case of that song, we worked on it and it just never fell into place. So I just took that initial riff and built a totally different song around it. So, yes, a few of them have been exposed to the band, and for various reasons they didn't get used, or there might not have been room on the record."

Along with the rejected and retooled Aerosmith songs, there were also tracks that never saw the hallowed rehearsal hall of Mr. Tyler.

"A song like 'Ten Years,' I never really put that out there as a song for the band to play," says Perry. "It's too personal and too much of a family heirloom, so to speak. But I can give you another little anecdote. I had the music for 'Lonely,' which I actually had the chorus for. But I didn't have a verse or a real arrangement, and then one night, probably in August or September, there was a commercial on TV that had the Johnny Cash song, 'I've Been Everywhere' [sings it]. That was on a commercial, and I heard it real late at night and I said, 'Wow, that's a real cool premise for a song,' so that's kinda where the lyrics for 'Lonely' came from — I've been everywhere too."

Sauce this way: Aerosmith's Joe Perry plans to follow up on the success of his Boneyard Brew

Joe Perry made his fame and fortune touring the world with Aerosmith. But he's winning a new circle of fans among foodies with his line of hot sauces, and planning to expand his stable of products. Joe Perry's spicy tortilla chips or beef jerky? You might see them this fall.

The 54-year-old rock guitarist grew up in Hopedale in an Italian-Portuguese family and said a passion for food is "in my blood."

Barbecue, however, is what tickles his palate most. In fact, he said, all "those (Aerosmith) gigs are just a sidetrack to get to the next barbecue joint"

A visit to his Duxbury home reveals all the trappings of a man who enjoys the limited time he has in his own kitchen: Perry pours freshly made espresso from a state-of-the-art machine, froths milk for his cappuccino in a stovetop steamer and culls recipes from the collection of cookbooks lining his counter. He does most of his cooking outdoors and boasts a large smoker at another home in Vermont where smoked pork ribs and turkey legs are among his favorite dishes.

On a dreary, wet July day, he quickly whips together an indoor lunch for his guests: a whole-wheat wrap of thinly sliced beef brisket with avocado and grilled vegetables topped by a generous dollop of Boneyard Brew hot sauce, the flagship product that his food company, Joe Perry's Rock Your World Inc., introduced about four years ago. Perry said he spent years "basically mixing sauces together to get what I wanted." Highlighted by the smoky aroma of chipotle peppers, some sweet balance and the palate-whipping kick of habanero peppers, his sauce is perfect with barbecued beef or pork, as a topping for hamburger or even with eggs. Perry likes to blend it with salsa while his son Roman "mixes it with ketchup." Boneyard Brew also is served with the quesadilla sold at Hard Rock restaurants around the world. Last year, Perry introduced his Mango Peach Tango hot sauce, with more of a fruity Caribbean flavor and more ideally suited for fish and chicken dishes.

"We wanted something that had some flavor, but more like an everyday table sauce like you'd see in Jamaica." Perry and his son Aaron, who runs the food company, plan to expand their offerings this fall. They still are considering a long list of products: spicy potato or tortilla chips, beef jerky, even macaroni & cheese.

When the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade's annual Fancy Foods Show continues today in New York, Aerosmith's Joe Perry will be there. No, Perry's not playing, he's promoting -- his collection of hot sauces. Believe it or not, his Rock Your World Boneyard Brew and Rock Your World Mango-Peach Tango are both up for food awards. Sounding more like Mario Batali than Yngwie Malmsteen, the guitarist tells PR Newswire that his sauces are hot, yes, but also subtle. ''There are plenty of sauces out there that will blow your brains out; I wasn't interested in that," Perry said. He rejected any suggestion that he's merely taking credit for someone else's work. ''The bottom line is that I won't put my name on anything -- from a Les Paul guitar to a hot sauce -- that I don't personally use."

What’s better than the roar of a bike engine flying down the road? Perhaps it is the combination of engine music and the deep sounds of an Aerosmith rock classic working in tandem. Add to that a beauty of a motorcycle built by custom bike legend Dave Perewitz in the image of those rock icons, and you have the Aerosmith bike, which will be on display at Summer Bike Fest. And joining the celebration will be Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, who will be signing autographs at the show.

The Aerosmith bike is a custom motorcycle built by Perewitz for Minnesota rock fan Drew Donnelly. Donnelly wanted a custom bike depicting his favorite rock group and sought out Perewitz, not knowing that Perewitz had a history with Aerosmith and had even designed bikes for several members including Whitford.

Brad Whitford, guitarist for Aerosmith, is a bike guy and car guy who’d rather be a race driver if he weren’t a rock hero. You can meet Whitford and get his autograph at the show, while looking at his portrait on the magnificent work of motorcycle art. The 2004 Dave Perewitz/Cycle Fab bike has a Daytec 250 STS frame, 18- inch Performance Machine wheels in front, Cycle Fab/Russ Wernimont front fenders and handle bars designed by Arlen Ness -- the bar ends are Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler’s own microphones. The engine is a 121ci TP Engineering plant with Patrick Racing dual carburetors and a Baker 6-speed transmission. Keith Hansen did the graphics and what rock-inspired graphics they are. Portraiture includes bass player Tom Hamilton’s image on the side of the oil tank, painted with sweet emotion; lead guitarist, Joe Perry’s likeness is on the other side of the fuel tank; Drummer Joey Kramer’s form sits atop the modified oil tank; guitarist Brad Whitford’s representation is on the fender above 250 Avon tire; and lead singer Steven Tyler’s semblance has a clear view of the dual Mikuni carbs. Aerosmith logos adorn the top of the fuel tank and the song title “Back in the Saddle” is stitched on the seat.

You can see this awesome bike and meet Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford and bike customizer Dave Perewitz at the show. Brad will be signing autographs at the show.

What inspired you to play guitar?
My Portugese uncle would play folk songs on a homemade ukelele at family gatherings. I was just six or seven years old, and I always wanted to get my hands on it. Shortly thereafter, I got a cheap guitar and plinked along to Roy Orbison songs and other stuff on the radio. After I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, I knew I wanted to devote my life to music and started playing the guitar seriously.

What was your first guitar?
A Silvertone acoustic with a phony, painted-on Sunburst finish. It cost $12 and came with a 45 [rpm] record that told you how to tune it.

Do you remember your first gig?
When I was 16, I was in a garage band that actually played in a garage! On Saturday afternoons we'd open the garage door and people in the neighborhood would stop by and listen to us badly play songs by the Animals and the Dave Clark Five.

What's your favorite piece of gear?
My Centaur pedal, which is made by a local guy in Boston. Many years ago he sent me and [Aerosmith coguitarist] Brad [Whitford] one to try out, and I've been using it ever since. It's a combination overdrive/boost pedal that doesn't color the sound too much.

What advice do you have for guitarists?
It depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to be in a band, you gotta stick with it. It's tough. It's not much different these days than when I was coming up. You have to get your live show together and build up a local following. The one thing you can control is how good you are onstage. Just keep playing, because eventually you'll get better.

The man known as the guitarist behind "Sweet Emotion" also happens to be the man behind a line of hot sauce. Around four years ago, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry contacted Boston-based food company Ashley Foods in order to create his own hot sauce. A year later, Rock Your World Boneyard Brew was launched.

Now, Perry is heading to the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade’s (NASFT) Fancy Foods Show on July 10-12 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. Two of Perry’s signature sauces are being considered for awards that will be announced at the show. Perry’s new self-titled solo album is in stores now.

Aerosmith have reportedly set "Rockin' the Joint" as the title of their upcoming live album, tentatively due in October. The CD is believed to have been recorded at The Joint at The Hard Rock in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 11, 2002.

In a recent interview with MTV.com, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry said that Aerosmith will likely start rehearsing at the end of August for a fall tour in support of the upcoming live CD and accompanying DVD.

"We don't have that much live stuff out, and one of the things fans have been requesting is a straight live DVD that's a whole concert rather than something cut up with backstage footage," Perry said. "So we're looking at a few shows, some of which are from the last tour, and that's something we'd really like to do."

At this point, Aerosmith plan to finish the tour, then return to the studio in 2006 to work on the follow-up to last year's blues album, "Honkin' on Bobo". Perry expects the new Aerosmith record to sound like a hybrid of the loose, freewheeling "Bobo" and 2001's more technical "Just Push Play".

"We have 30 years of playing live together, and that's a real asset," Perry said. "And that's what we drew from on 'Bobo'. We didn't have time to do a full studio record, but we wanted to press the reset button and do something that was less layered and precise. I hope some of that rubs off on our next recording experience so there's still some of that live edge."

Television, radio, and the Internet will provide ready access to Live 8 concerts throughout the day...MTV, VH1, and MTV's college network mtvU will run a shared feed from noon to 8 p.m., a first-time effort for the networks. Their coverage will include highlights of various performances, interviews with participating artists and fans, and taped segments looking at the original 1985 Live Aid concert and other news. This coverage will mark the longest period MTV has gone live for a televised event since Woodstock '99.

ABC plans to broadcast a two-hour special at 8 p.m. which will highlight various performances.

On the Internet, AOL will stream live video coverage of all 10 concerts on different channels, beginning at 9 a.m. Viewers, who don't have to be subscribers, can go to www.aolmusic.com and select the concert they want to watch. AOL will also offer online feeds on-demand for six weeks after the event.

Clear Channel Communications' Premiere Radio Networks subsidiary will broadcast pop and rock feeds on WHEB-FM (100.3) and WBMX-FM (98.5), beginning at 9 a.m. The broadcasts will include interviews with performers and coverage of developments backstage at various venues.

XM Satellite Radio will broadcast six concerts live on channels 41 to 46 (London, Philadelphia, Berlin, Rome, Paris, and Toronto). It will also provide a broader look at the global events on channels 40 and 200, beginning at 7 a.m.

Perry's fiery line, Rock Your World, debuted the following year with a sauce called Boneyard Brew. Last year, it added Mango-Peach Tango sauce to its lineup. Both flavorful sauces are up for awards at the National Assn. for the Specialty Food Trade's Fancy Foods Show July 10-12 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York.
